The benefits of Guardant blood tests for cancer.
The same way your healthcare team uses blood tests to know more about your general health, Guardant blood tests are used to know more about your cancer.
Learn more about Guardant tests below.
Scientists have known for a long time that cancer leaves small amounts of itself in the blood.
Our technology can find what the cancer leaves behind and get more information from it, all with just a blood sample.
We got the genomic testing results the day before I was scheduled to have a port put in and the results stopped it. We had a different approach.

A more pleasant way to screen for colon cancer.
Introducing Shield—unlike other screening tests, Shield is a simple blood test that requires no special preparation or dietary changes, and no handling of your stool. It can be completed whenever you do other bloodwork, and you can get results in as little as 2 weeks.
WHO IT’S FOR:
- People 45 years and older;
- Those at average risk for colon cancer; and
- Those due for colon cancer screening

Important note: Shield is a qualitative laboratory developed test intended to detect colorectal cancer by identifying genomic and epigenomic alterations in cell-free DNA in plasma from blood collected in Guardant blood collection tubes. The assay is intended to be complementary to and not a replacement for current recommended colorectal cancer screening methods. Patients with an "abnormal signal detected" Shield test result should be referred for colonoscopic evaluation. A "normal signal detected" Shield test result does not preclude the presence of colorectal cancer, and patients should continue participating in guideline-recommended screening programs. Shield was developed as a Laboratory Developed Test (LDT), and its performance characteristics determined, by the Guardant Health Clinical Laboratory in Redwood City, CA, USA, which is certified under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA) as qualified to perform high-complexity clinical testing. This test has not been cleared or approved by the US FDA.
Understand if all your cancer was removed and if there’s a high risk of it coming back.
With just a simple blood draw, Guardant Reveal can detect if a very small amount of cancer remains after surgery or treatment and monitor if it has relapsed or recurred (if your cancer has come back). This is sometimes called a minimal residual disease (MRD) test.
WHO IT’S FOR:
- People with early-stage colorectal, breast, or lung cancers that have not spread to other parts of the body; and
- People who have had surgery or treatment to remove the cancer
